Background
In September 2009, Camden City Public Schools (Camden, N.J.) and Oxford Area School District (Oxford, Pa.) embarked on historic and unprecedented district-wide reading initiatives using ARRA funds. They launched “Action 100”, American Reading Company’s most comprehensive intervention program, which includes a 12-step professional development initiative to ensure the success of all schools and student sub-groups. Action 100 is an extension of the highly successful 100 Book Challenge program which is currently used by more than a million students in over 2,100 schools, across 420 districts in 41 states.
