Meadowcreek Stepping up for Reading
Bedford, Texas—Many parents of Meadowcreek Elementary School second- and third-graders in Bedford, Texas, have signed pledges to turn off the TV, cell phones, computers and video games for 30 minutes each night so the children can spend the time reading from a selection of new books acquired through American Reading Company’s 100 Book Challenge.
“This is one of the most exciting things I’ve seen,” Meadowcreek principal Ferrell Yeokum said. “It’s contagious. I looked at it and wondered if I was just buying another product, but it works.”
