Promueven la lectura a temprana edad
Brownsville, Texas—Raúl Yzaguirre School for Success charter school in Houston, Texas, recently kicked off the Action 100 program, distributing bags of books to students as they start down the path to a lifelong love of reading and emphasizing the importance of family involvement in each student’s reading journey.
The program’s 15-minute increments of reading at school and at home, scaffolded by the combined efforts of teachers and parents, will result in each student having read for at least 200 hours by the end of the school year, putting books in a position to compete with the 4 hours of TV that a recent study indicates is watched by American families each day—and students in a position to vastly improve their reading habits and their test scores in all subjects as a result.
