American Reading Company’s ARC Press Titles Make Their Way to Pakistan
Pakistan—Thanks to Camden City Public School ESL teacher Khadijah Sidiqi, students in Pakistan are now using American Reading Company’s ARC Press titles to help them learn English. As an ESL teacher at Yorkship Elementary School, Ms. Sidiqi understood the challenges for students learning to speak English as a second language. Based on her success using the ARC Press titles, she approached American Reading Company to provide matching funds to secure books to take with her on a trip to Afghanistan in the spring of 2010. As it turned out, the school she visited in Afghanistan was unable to accept the books due to education approval requirements. However, she was able to get the books to a school in Pakistan where the books have been put to good use by economically disadvantaged students eager to learn to speak English.
