American Reading Company is the lead partner for the School Improvement Grant received by Cramer College Preparatory Lab School in Camden, New Jersey, 2010–2011. Historically, Cramer has been among the 5% lowest performing schools in the country, but NO LONGER. Don’t be fooled by the name. Cramer is a public elementary school that accepts every child in its catchment area. At the time of this filming, early May, 80% of the kindergartners at Cramer were able to read on level. By June, it was 93%. Children whose first language is Spanish learned to read Spanish. The SIG has been renewed. These children move to first grade. Stay tuned.
