Summer is the right time to strengthen literacy skills and develop teachers’ capacity to implement rigorous college and career readiness standards, including the 3 Instructional Shifts in ELA. Teachers deliver engaging, project based lessons that provide scaffolded grade-level instruction that is effectively differentiated to support all students.
Biology Summer Semester, a Kindergarten Research Lab, integrates the standards for Language Arts, Science, and Fine Arts into daily instruction. Strong focus is brought to emergent readers and the transition to early independence. Students learn to read, write, and think like scientists as they learn about oceans, forests, and savannas.
Students are engaged in reading when they have access to books they like and books that are matched to their skill level. The Allington & McGill-Franzen Take Home Kits include an expertly curated collection of best-in-class literature and high-interest informational texts. Each kit includes multiple copies of 40-50 titles at a range of reading levels with which to engage and support every student making summer a time for learning.
